Hearts of Oak Masters football club of New Amsterdam won the two match series of the first leg of a goodwill series of football matches against Wales Masters Football Club of West Bank Demerara.
In the games which were played at the Scot Church ground in New Amsterdam; the first game on Saturday saw Hearts of Oak Masters drubbing the visitors 5-2 with Brian Ralph and Sherwin Forde scoring two each, while Kirt Alphonso netting one. Terrence Lewis scored both goals for Wales Masters.
The second game on Sunday was a more keenly contested affair with the game ending 6-5 in favour of Hearts of Oak Masters. Scoring for Hearts of Oak were Brian Ralph, Charles Joseph and Horace Roach with two each. Responding for Wales were Terrence Lewis with 3, while there was one each from Trevor Johnson and Shawn Johnson.
The series will continue shortly with Hearts of Oak paying a return visit to Wales.
Hearts of Oak is also preparing for a number of goodwill tournaments in Guyana and overseas.
