Boys 4x100m relay gold for Guyana at South American Youth Games

Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s rising sprint stars delivered a performance of precision, power, and promise to capture gold in the boys’ 4x100m relay at the 2026 South American Youth Games in Panama, clocking an impressive 41.56 seconds to secure the nation’s second gold medal of the championships.

The quartet of Ezekiel Millington, David Williams, Daquan Farrell, and Gordon Thompson executed their race plan to near perfection, fending off strong challenges from regional powerhouses Chile (42.33s) and Brazil (43.23s), who finished second and third respectively.

Fresh off his gold medal run in the boys’ 100m, Millington provided Guyana with a blistering start on the opening leg, accelerating smoothly out of the blocks and setting the tone for what would become a dominant display.

Guyana stormed to another gold medal this time in the 4x 100m relay event.

Williams maintained the momentum on the backstretch, delivering a clean and composed second leg before handing off to Farrell, who navigated the curve with control and speed to keep Guyana firmly in contention.

With the baton passed cleanly into the hands of Thompson, the outcome was all but sealed.

The nation’s fastest U18 sprinter this season, and silver medallist in the boys’ 100m, powered down the home straight with authority, leaving the chasing pack with no chance of reeling him in as he surged across the finish line to seal gold.

Attention now shifts to the individual events, where Thompson and Farrell will aim to further boost Guyana’s medal tally in the boys’ 200m final.

Farrell has already signaled his intent after posting the fastest semifinal time of 21.89 seconds, while Thompson followed closely with 22.16s to book his lane in what promises to be a competitive showdown.

Meanwhile, Angel Jeffrey will also be in medal contention in the girls’ 200m final, having clocked 24.46s to finish second in her semifinal.

Guyana’s medal count now stands at five (two gold, one silver, and two bronze) with track and field contributing four of those podium finishes. Boxer Ken Harvey accounts for the country’s other medal with a bronze performance.
