Kaieteur Sports – National Sports Commission Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport 11th edition of the Janet & Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket champion trophy competition in Region 2 organised by Sport Officer A. Munroe and played at the Queenstown Community Centre Ground, saw a memorable debut for Charity Secondary Girls.
In the Janet Jagan girls final: Charity Secondary School on debut captured the girls title beating Cottonfield Secondary. Charity after been invited to take first strike made 49-5, off their allotted 5 overs, with only Annessa Allen reaching double figures, 17 not out. Bowling for Cottonfield Secondary, Shaqueena Moses took 3 wickets.
Cottonfield turn in the middle saw them being restricted to 45, with Riya Singh scoring 26 & S. Moses retiring on 15, with the team needing nine runs in the final over.
The Cheddi Jagan boys finals saw defending Region 2 & national champions Abrams Zuil Secondary retain their region title in a low scoring match.
Anna Regina Multilateral School won the toss and elected to bat and made 33-4, Jermain Ross 14 and Jhonathan Barry 13.
Abrams Zuil reaches their target 34-2, off 4.5 overs Marc Anthony Obermuller 15.
