Grove Rebels prevailed over Grove PPP Group when those teams clashed in a domino competition when the latter group hosted a Grand Family Fun day Sunday October 11 last.
Several other groups participated in the competition and included Section ‘K’ PPP group from Georgetown and the PYO group from Goed Fortuin. Activities also included relay races and the Grove Diamond PYO group prevailed with the Goed Fortuin PYO group finishing in the second place.
Several government functionaries attended the function with the Permanent Secretary of Local Government handing over the trophies to the respective winners. He subsequently reminded the youths of government’s commitment to their development through sports.
He further urged them to use their experiences in this department to become community oriented persons.
The organizers wish to extend gratitude to all who made the event possible. Those individuals and entities include Freedom House, Minister of Housing and Water, Irfan Ali, Director of Youth and Sports, Neil Kumar, Demerara Distillers Ltd, M P Insurance, Lesa Grocery, Grove NDC and Xenon Academy.
The group is currently preparing for its next community oriented activity and is scheduled to paint all of the pedestrian crossings in the Grove/Diamond area as well as to a tree planting exercise. Members of the group would also clean up the Diamond Community Centre Ground as well as the dorms.
