Kaieteur Sports – Anthony Providence produced a brilliant, all-round performance to inspire West Coast Warriors to an exciting, 13-run win over Row Rangers in the continuation of the 2026 Commonwealth Cricket League 30-over Division tournament in New York.
Playing on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park, Providence struck an impressive 59 to help his team tallying up a competitive 227-8 from the 30-overs.
The Trinidadian then returned with his off-break to snatch 3-33 (05) as Row Rangers were dismissed for 214 in the penultimate over.
Warriors continued to top the points table with three consecutive victories now. In this contest, Providence received solid support from former Demerara Inter-county player Avi Dhanpaul and Chandrapaul Persaud with 54 and 52 respectively.
Providence opened the innings with Rajendra Persaud, who made 13, while soon after inform batter Youghestir Bachan departed cheaply for 9.
However, Providence and Persaud revived the innings with a third-wicket alliance posting up 53 runs. Providence occupied the crease for 47 balls clobbering four sixes and three fours.
Warriors, who won the toss and decided to take first strike, suffered a low-order collapse as the last four wickets fell for 29 runs.
Mohammad Fayez Ullah was the chief wicket-taker for Row Rangers grabbing 3-24 from four decent overs while Arpon Babu collected 2-43 (05).
When Row Rangers batted, skipper and opener Akram Chowdhury showed resistance by hitting a top-score of 46. Saifullah Shoborno scored a measurable 38 to keep the fight while Dipta Das was also combative making 29.
Apart from Providence’s outstanding bowling performance, seamer and US-based Guyanese Javid Shafeek nabbed three wickets as well but he conceded 40 runs off 5.3 overs.
Kenly Adams chipped in with two wickets to be supportive along with leggy Brandon Cabose who had accounted for a victim during his six-over stint.
Meanwhile, the five-team, round-robin competition will continue on Sunday. West Coast Warriors are set to trade punches with Punjab Pura.
