Kaieteur Sports – It all comes down to the final two schools in the 12th Annual Massy Distribution Secondary Schools Under-18 Football Tournament, and what a journey it has been.
Chase Academic Foundation, widely regarded as the standout team of the competition, will face Region One’s undisputed champions Santa Rosa Secondary tonight at the Ministry of Education ground, with the 2026 secondary schools’ title on the line.
Following tonight’s action, eight schools will be confirmed for the upcoming League format, schedule for later this year, while the top four finishers will receive Petra-championship prizes in recognition of their performances.
Both finalists enter this clash unbeaten and highly motivated. Chase is determined to redeem itself after falling short in last year’s title pursuit. Captain, Malcolm Hendricks, noting that: “We are ready for the challenge, the title is ours and tonight we will prove just that.” While Santa Rosa, facing a prolonged title drought, is equally hungry to secure the coveted trophy. In a recent interview, Santa Rosa’s captain claimed, “We are here to win.Though we welcome the challenge, our only aim is, to come out victorious.”
The challenge is significantbut far from impossible.

Chase’s Darius Chester (in photo) in company with Nyron Barrow, Shaquan David and Mark Glasgow set to turn the heat on against Santa Rosa Secondary in the Massy final today.
With strong midfields and unpredictable attacking options on both sides, this final, promises to be fiercely contested. Santa Rosa is expected to draw strong district support, a backing that could possibly prove decisive. However, Chase Academic Foundation has consistently attracted massive peers support over the past half-a-decade, and their supporters are sure to bring electrifying energy once again.
Earlier in the day at 4:00 p.m., West Ruimveldt Secondary—narrowly defeated 8-7 on penalties by Santa Rosa in last week’s semifinal—will take on Charlestown Secondary in the third-place playoff. Charlestown, coming off a heavy 7-0 loss to 2024 champions Chase, will be eager for redemption, setting the stage for an intense battle to claim third.

Santa Rosa Danger! The Darren Williams and Dane Phillips duo ready for today’s challenge against Georgetown powerhouse Chase’s Academic Foundation.
By the end of the night, one thing will be certain: a champion will be crowned. One match, and only one winner. Will Santa Rosa Secondary rise to the occasion, or will Chase Academic Foundation finally retain the title?Tonight, will decided.
The tournament continues to thrive thanks to the generous support of Massy Distribution, which has backed the programme for the past twelve years.
Additional support comes from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Demerara Mutual Group, which recently announced its involvement through Personal Accidents Policy coverage. The tournament is also officially approved by the Ministry of Education.
