Kaieteur Sports – Swan United FC and Timehri United FC will clash today in the final of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League Playoff Qualifier (East Bank) after both teams secured identical 4-2 semifinal victories at the National Training Centre (NTC) on Friday.
With a coveted place in the 2026 Elite League Playoffs at stake, the two East Bank powerhouses enter the final in confident fashion following impressive attacking displays in their respective semifinal encounters.
Timehri United booked their place in the qualification match with a commanding 4-2 victory over Herstelling Raiders FC. Although the scoreline suggests a competitive affair, Timehri were in complete control for much of the contest before conceding two late consolation goals.

Goals from Nyron Barrow, Joseph De Frietas, Leroy Evans and Keyron Williams send Timehri United in East Bank Playoff final.
The match featured a midfield battle between two evenly matched sides on paper, but Timehri’s clinical finishing proved decisive. Nyron Barrow opened the scoring in the 44th minute, capitalising on an opportunity just before halftime to hand his side a crucial lead.
Shortly after the restart, Joseph DeFreitas doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute after breaking free from defenders and finishing emphatically. Nine minutes later, Leroy Evans all but secured victory when he converted from close range to make it 3-0.
Keyron Williams added a fourth goal in the 70th minute as Timehri appeared destined for a comfortable shutout victory. However, Herstelling rallied late, scoring in the 83rd and 90th minutes to reduce the deficit, though the comeback arrived too late to threaten Timehri’s progress.
Swan United reached the final after overcoming Soesdyke Falcons FC 4-2 in an entertaining second semifinal.
Murphius Andrews gave Swan an early advantage in the 20th minute, slicing through the Falcons’ defence to make it 1-0. Soesdyke responded swiftly when Terrence Glasgow found the equaliser four minutes later, sending the teams into the halftime interval locked at 1-1.
The second half produced a flurry of goals. Christor Roberts restored Swan’s lead early after the restart, but Kelly Benson responded in the 58th minute to level the scores at 2-2.
Roberts then delivered the decisive moment of the contest, completing his brace with a superb strike in the 65th minute to put Swan back in front. The victory was sealed in the 88th minute when Abram Webb finished from close range, sending Swan United into the final with a convincing 4-2 triumph.
Today’s winner-takes-all encounter will determine which club earns the right to represent the East Bank Football Association in the 2026 Elite League Playoffs.
The East Bank Elite League Playoff Qualifier is sanctioned by the Guyana Football Federation, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the National Training Centre.
