Kaieteur Sports – This weekend marks the start of the inaugural “One Guyana” 2026 All Guyana Secondary Schools Boyz Tape-Ball Super League, presented by Mike’s Pharmacy.
Geared towards cohesion among several of the country’s top secondary institutions, the competition will be played under an 8-a-side format.
St. Rose’s High, Queen’s College, Berbice High, St. Joseph High, Morgan’s Learning Centre, Charlestown Secondary and L.B.I Secondary will do battle among other top institutions.
The highly-competitive Chase Academy, Covent Garden Secondary, Mackenzie High, School of the Nations, Brickdam Secondary and New Central High, alongside other teams are set to be a part of the event.
Action gets underway from Saturday, March 28 and Sunday March 29 with both games starting at 9:00h respectively on both days, at the National Culture Centre Tarmac and the National Park Tarmac.
According to organisers, the aim is to create a platform for which young cricketers are able to showcase their skills in a more fast-paced setting.
The other aspect of the tournament is geared towards building stronger relationships with a more inter-school competitive atmosphere.
Given the number of schools and institutions on board, organisers are optimistic as it relates to strong support from students, parents and cricket fans alike.
Cummings Electrical Co. and the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Clifton Hicken, have thrown their support as sponsors for this competition.
