Kaieteur Sports – Tyrel Delph and Omar Williams produced scintillating hat-tricks to power Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre (MT&VTC) to a commanding 10-3 victory over the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) when the Petra-Modec Tertiary Education Football Tournament continued at the #5 Ground in Berbice.
MT&VTC wasted little time asserting themselves, breaking the deadlock in just the second minute. Delph capitalised on a defensive lapse, calmly slotting home to give his side an early 1-0 advantage. Omar Williams then struck a treble in quick succession in the 17th 20th and 21st minutes, stretching the lead to 4-0 and putting GSA firmly on the back foot.

GSA showed signs of resistance midway through the first half. Dexter Spencer ignited hopes of a comeback with a 24th-minute strike to make it 4-1, and Shondel Antoine followed up in the 30th minute to reduce the deficit to 5-2.
However, MT&VTC quickly regained control. Winton Hartman buried his first (goal) in the 35th, before Niron Thom found the back of the net in a dominant spell late in the half, combining two goals as MT&VTC surged to a commanding 7-2 lead at the interval.
After the restart, GSA managed a consolation goal through Dexter McPhie, but it did little to stem the tide. Hartman (40’) and Thom (60’) each completed their braces, while Delph returned to the spotlight with two late strikes in the 80th and 82nd minutes to seal his hat-trick and cap an emphatic 10-3 triumph.
With Match Six now concluded, the tournament resumes tomorrow at the Leonora Ground, where Essequibo Technical Institute will face Leonora Technical and Vocational Training Centre from 11:00 hours.
The tournament is sponsored by Petra and Modec (Guyana), with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, MVP Sports, MACORP, Demerara Mutual Group, Banks Powerade and Quality Deliverer.
