Kaieteur Sports – The Junior Lady Jags put forth another exceptional performance to record their first win of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers on Thursday night in Aruba.
Today, they are back in action in another encounter at the Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium, Oranjestad, as they battle the Group D runner up, Honduras, from 15:00 hrs.
After Thursday’s matches, Jamaica has assumed the lead of Group D with seven points while Honduras is second with six points and Guyana is third on four points. Aruba and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are at the bottom of the group with no points on the table.
However, Jamaica has one more Group match to play, while Guyana and Honduras both have two matches to come. This means that a shift in points at the top of table is quite possible for the top three with the fixtures remaining.
Only the six Group winners (A, B, C, D, E and F) and the best two second-place finishers will advance to the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers Final Round.
Following today’s round of matches, the final Group D matches unfold on February 2 with Guyana versus St. Vincent and the Grenadines at 15:00 hrs and Honduras versus Jamaica at 18:00 hrs.
On Thursday evening, Guyana romped to a commanding 2 – 0 win over Aruba to boost their confidence after their opening match ended in a draw.
It was an eventful first half which saw Anaya Joseph put the Junior Jags ahead in the 26th minute, following an exchange of shots on target from both sides. Joseph was left to beat the custodian only after receiving a crucial assist on the move from Alexaudria Chasles, who also kept probing the Aruba defense.
Chasles also played a role in Guyana’s second goal in the 88th minute, with another good assist that found Adrianna Chin in the centre of the 18-yard box, where she produced a quality touch for the finish.
Guyana U17 Squad: Jasmine Solomon-Ross (GK), Alexis Mars (GK), Sara Ernest (GK), Aliyah John, Ella Yhip, Kuleni Springer, Lily Biffin, Avril Pasvolsky, Laila Ross, Laila So, Caraleena Elliston, Sydney Glean, Kimora Edwards, Arianna Chin, Carissa Lombardi, Ellie Biffin, Ayah Stewart, Alexaudria Chasles, Tanya De Vair, Anaya Joseph and Eleanna Isaacs.
