At Police Ground, opener Yannick Newton (42) and Man-of-the-match Gibran Yacoob (16) top-scored for the GCB XI who were bowled out for 103 in 23.1 overs.
The carnage was led by spinner Richard Ramdehol who put on a magic show to return 5-6, while pacer Micah Amsterdam grabbed 4-26 as they led Berbice’ bowling.
However, Berbice would surprisingly misfire and implode for 91 all out after Yacoob returned to pick up 4-17 which helped to complete a brilliant all-round game. Help also came from Joshua Budram (3-16) and Rupie Rajaram (2-33).
Ramdheol (22), along with the openers Vishal Williams (11) and Antonio DePaul (18) were the front-line batsmen for Berbice.
Demerara beat Essequibo by 99 runs
Batting first, Demerara racked up 242-6 from 50 overs, thanks to a string of knocks from openers Khush Seegobin (42) and Parmehwar Ram (40), along with contributions from West Indies U19 player Shamar Apple (46) and Jonathan Mentore (48*).
The pair of Nicholas Lovell (3-40) and Ravesh Singh (2-33), were the wicket-takers for Essequibo lads who were then kept to 143-10 in the chase.
Opener Justin Dowlin tried to keep his side in the game with an unbeaten 78 (8×4), but ran out of partners as match MVP Ram, finished a top game by adding 4-18 to his stats.
Additional help for Demerara was provided by Vijai Kaplu (2-26) and Shane Prince (2-33). (Clifton Ross)
