Kaieteur Sports – Guyana exited this year’s tournament with another tough defeat, this time by 7 runs, as the Trinidadians will enter the upcoming Super50 with momentum despite not reaching this year’s final.
After keeping Trinidad to a modest 104-7 after 20 overs ended, Guyana shot themselves in the leg, as they fumbled an easy chase, only to end up being bowled out for 97 with just 2 balls remaining in the innings.
Trinidad veteran Britney Cooper smacked 46 with 6 fours, while Djenaba Joseph (15) and skipper Karishama Ramharack (13) were the other significant scorers.
Guyanese spinner Ashmini Munisar wrapped up a disappointing tournament on a high note, claiming 4-15 with help from left-spinner Danellie Manns (2-14).
The Guyanese would then blow the chase, despite a run-a-ball 32 from Shabika Gajnabi (2×4), Realeanna Grimmond (20), Latoya Williams (13) and Sheneta Grimmond (12).
Ramharack led another top bowling exhibition, claiming 3-13 alongside Anisa Mohammed (2-17), Lee-Ann Kirby (2-10) and Shalini Samaroo (2-16).
Jamaica beat Windwards by 10 wickets to win 5th-place playoffs
In a low-scoring affair, Jamaica stormed to a 10-wicket win after disposing of the Windwards in a mere 3.4 overs.
Windwards were kept to 62-9 with captain Zaida James (24) the top-scorer, after Vanessa Watts (3-5) and Stafanie Taylor (2-13) led the bowling for Jamaica.
The veteran pair of openers in Rashada Williams, who punched 21* off 17 (3×4), and Chedean Nation’s 12-ball 23 with a six and four fours, sealed a breezy, consolation win for the Jamaican.
