Kaieteur Sports – Guyana will look to shake their demons under lights, as they prepare for their second night encounter versus an out-of-sorts Jamaican team, when action continues tonight at the Arnos Vale Playing Field Ground.
After suffering a horrific loss on Thursday night, Guyana will be keen on rebounding tonight against Jamaica.
The Jamaicans have been suffering a series of bad luck, losing both of their encounters but will desperately need a win come this round, should they aim to remain in the competition.
The Guyanese spinners have been magnificent thus far, with Ashmini Munisar and Plaffianna Millington leading the charge, while veteran seamer Sheneta Grimmond has been playing her role.
Guyana will want a bit more from Kaysia Schultz, while Shabika Gajnabi’s part-time bowling has proved effective in tough times.
The Guyanese have also been trying to find their groove with the bat, as Gajnabi remains the key, while players like Munisar continue to stabilize the lower-order.
Skipper Shemaine Campbelle, Mandy Mangru, Realeanna Grimmond or the Williams sisters are yet to have an impact; but remain key players especially against an out-of-form Jamaica.
While Chedean Nation has been the best player to date in both departments, should veterans like Rashada Williams or Stefanie Taylor find their form, the Guyanese should be in for a fight.
Jamaica has been on a mixed bowling run as well but with Guyana playing shaky against Leewards, who play a similar mixed bowling style to that of the Jamaicans; both sides will need to tighten up in their respective departments.
Meanwhile, the opening round will see Leeward Islands playing Trinidad with both teams fresh off wins at 9:30h, while Barbados will look to box out the Windwards, who have also had a rough start to the season; from 14:00h. (Clifton Ross)
