Kaieteur Sports- The late great Milton Pydana was laid to rest on Monday following his shock passing recently, which saw another Guyanese cricket icon transitioning, leaving behind an immortal legacy.
The ex-Berbice, Guyana and West Indies wicket-keeper/ batsman’s funeral service was held in Guyana on Monday at the Central Assembly of God Church on Church and East Streets.
The New Amsterdam born Pydana, played in three One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the West Indies following a strong first class career which spanned close to two decades for Guyana, scoring more than 2000 runs including a pair of centuries.
He made his debut against Pakistan back in 1980 and while his international career never fully took off, his contributions to Guyana and his county Berbice, which he led at one point, still hold a place in the pages of Guyana’s cricket books.
A number of tributes poured in from the Cricket fraternity across the world following the passing of one of the most dynamic glovemen in the history of Caribbean.
The service was attended by a large portion of the Cricket community, while friends, family members and overall supporters of the legend, turned out to pay their final respect to one of Guyana’s icons of cricket. (CR)
