West Demerara keep East Bank at bay, thanks to all-round efforts

Kaieteur Sports – Some good all-round cricket from the West Demerara boys saw them upset the home team East Bank on their home turf at Farm Ground when action continued in citywide GFCSA/DCB U-19 Inter-Association 50-Over competition.
West Demerara posted 136 all out batting first at the Farm Ground on the East Bank; with opener Parmeshwar Ram leading his team’s batting charge with 33 (3×4 1×6).
Ram’s opener partner, Rezenkiel Renee hit 16 while Sachin Balgobin, steadied the middle/top order with an aggressive 24 featuring 6 fours, leaving the rest of their teammate to shift their attention to doing better with the bat next round.
Parmeshwar Ram continues to impress with the bat.
It was clinical bowling from the home team East Bank, who utilized just two bowlers to get the job done, in Krsna Singh who bagged an impressive 4-15 and Zahid Mohamed who chipped in with 3-24.
East Bank then fumbled their chase, being restricted to 126-10 with Dravid Manohar resisting with a top-score of 22 and Anthony Lim, hitting 20 down the order to finish as the two leading run-scorers.
Opener Deonarine Dindyal (13), Devin Roopnarine (13) and Mohamed (13) who returned with bat to help the chase; all had identical scores but failed to convert.
Rezenkiel Renee was among the top scorers for West Dem.
Aside from a number of key run-outs which aided in the downfall of the home team, Kelvin Raymond returned 2-17, while Balgobin (1-14) and Udesh Seetaram (1-34), played good supporting roles.
Action continues today with Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) battling East Coast Cricket Association (ECCA) at Demerara Cricket Club Ground (DCC). Upper Demerara Cricket Association (UDCA) will face East Bank at Malteenoes Ground.
