Black Pearl FC and Police B were the first teams to register wins when the 2019 Turbo Football tourney kicked off at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Monday night after edging GT Panthers and Dynamic FC respectively.
In the feature game, Police B narrowly got past Dynamic 3-2 in the match that had five different players etching their names on the scoresheet. Omari James (55th), Leon Rose (80th) and Ozese Halley (87th) did well to help Police come from behind to overcome the first half two-goal deficit which was achieved through the successful strikes from Kevaun Garnett (3rd) and Paul Collins (19th).
In the opening match Black Pearl prevailed via kicks from the penalty spot after drawing with GT Panthers 2-2 after full and extra time. Julius Hamilton bagged a brace for the eventual winners in the sixth and 47th minutes.
Joshua Allicock (8th) and Seon Urquhart (75th) were the scorers for GT Panthers before they were bested 3-2 via the penalty kicks.
The winning team of the 2019 Turbo Knockout tournament will receive 400,000; second place will pocket $200, 000, while third and fourth will receive $100,000 and $50, 000 respectively.
