The stage was set for an exciting climax, but rain had the final say as no play was possible in the final of the 592 Beer/ICool Water T10 Softball competition which concluded on Sunday last at Queen’s College ground.

Members of the SVC Grill Masters and Avengers share the winning prize after rain prevented any play in the final.
Avengers and SVC Grill Masters were set to contest the final following victories in their respective semi final games; however they were declared joint champions. SVC Grill Masters beat Herstelling by 9 wickets in the first semi final.
Herstelling took first strike and scored 117-6. Quazim Yusuf slammed 47 while Vijay Persaud made 29. Roy Jaffarally captured 2-6. SVC Grill Masters replied with 118-1 from 7.1 overs. Vishal Phillips made an unbeaten 44; Jason Sinclair 30 and David Lukenauth 26 not out. Yusuf had 2-22.
Avengers defeated Speedboat by six wickets in their semi final encounter. Speedboat posted 119-9, batting first. Kwason Joseph made 27; Wazeer Hussain got 24 and Greg Singh 20. Marvin Bobb captured 3-15. Avengers scored 126-4 in 8.4 overs in response. Sachin Jagnarine struck 40 while Seion Smith made 36 as Singh snared 3-16.
Ariel Masters defeated Parika Defenders by 70 runs to win the over-50 final. Led by a fine 66 (6×4 3×6) from opener Mohamed Rafeek, Ariel Masters posted 179-7 from their allotted 20 overs, taking first strike.
Rafeek got valuable support from Dennis Mangru with 42, Richard Persaud 18 and Orin Samuel 15. Eshwar Ram and Azeem Mohamed picked up two wickets each. Parika Defenders were restricted to 109-7 in reply.
Ramesh Rambarose made 51 while Kenrick Persaud scored 28 and Asgaralli Nazaralli 12. Ano Singh claimed 3-18 and Dharam Persaud 2-20. Earlier, Ariel Masters beat HS Masters by eight runs.
Ariel Masters batted first and managed 136-2 from their allocation of 15 overs. Mohamed Rafeek struck eight fours and four sixes in a top score of 85 while Dharam Persaud made 35.
HS Masters responded with 128-7.
Mark Fung scored 32 while Vinood Kissoon contributed 30. Dharam Persaud picked up 3-15 and Robert Camacho 2-20. Rafeek was named the most valuable player. Organiser Samuel Kingston congratulated the winning teams and expressed gratitude to the sponsors which also included Trophy Stall.
