Residents of Shieldstown and surrounding Communities on the West Coast Berbice were the recipients of a number of sports gear compliments of the Government of Guyana. The donations were made by Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally at the community Center Ground during a visit to the area.
The items were given to the residents to help them enhance their involvement in the various sports.
The male ‘All Star’ team received cricket gear, volleyballs, nets and footballs.
In addition over 50 students received ‘David G’ school bags as part of the government’s back to school drive.
Meanwhile, Minister Ally highlighted that the government has been working hard to make sure that every citizen benefits equally from what the APNU+AFC administration has to offer.
Residents expressed thanks and were happy for the gear and equipment donated. They stated that the tokens would be used equally by all who participates in the various games in the community.
