Last Saturday, the GBTI Staff Cricket Club hosted a Bonding and Coaching Mentorship camp with children of the Shaheed Boys and Girls Orphanages.
The BCM took place at the GBTI Staff Recreational Centre in Bel Air and attracted about a dozen children, mostly teenagers.
GBTI boasts of understanding the needs of the Guyanese people and over the years has been involved in empowerment programmes of various kinds including sports.
“At GBTI we work hard, we have fun but we also believe in giving back to the community in which we exist,” said Bhesham Persaud President of the Club.
“As President of the GBTI cricket club we have always received full support from Management, so today GBTI has extended this support to the boys and girls of the Shaheed Orphanage,” he said.
The aim was to expose them to the game of cricket while inspiring them and generally sharing some fun moments together.
“They’re young boys and girls with dreams and aspirations too and at GBTI we are about helping Guyanese realise their dreams,” Persaud said.
