The Ministry of the Presidency, K.P. Thomas & Sons along with S. Jagmohan have become the latest sponsors to come in board to support the Patron’s Fund of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. Under the Patron’s Green Economy Cricket Tournament, which would be organised by the Berbice Cricket Board. The Club would also be sharing out bicycles, school bags, exercise books, cricket bats to students across Berbice, while several senior citizens would receive donations as part of an effort to make a positive difference in their lives. Among the items that would be donated to the senior citizens are sewing machines and food hampers.
The Ministry of the Presidency donated $150,000 along with $127,000 worth of trophies, K.P. Thomas and Sons $135,000, while S. Jagmohan Construction contributed $50,000. The Club had earlier received support from V NET Communication, Minister of State Joseph Harmon, Integrated Security Services, Bakewell, Nand Persaud Co. Ltd and Bissan’s Trading among others. The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club has already started the distribution of bicycles, school bags and exercise books and this would continue later in the month.
Secretary/CEO of the Club, Hilbert Foster who is spearheading the project along with Vice President Mark Papannah and Asst Secretary Simon Naidu, stated that the programmes are being organised in honour of the Club’s Patron, His Excellency President David Granger 73rd Birthday. Last year, the Club assisted hundreds of youths across Berbice with school bags, bicycles, exercise books, while dozens of clubs received cricket bats and cricket gears.
Asst Secretary Simon Naidu expressed gratitude to the Ministry of the Presidency, Director of Protocol Colonel Francis Abraham, Mr. Ken Thomas of K.P. Thomas C. Ltd and the Management of S. Jagmohan Construction. The Patron’s Cup is expected to bowl off next week with eleven teams participating. The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS has already handed over the prize money and trophies to the Berbice Cricket Board for the Tournament.
