The Selection Panel of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has named a training squad in preparation for next month’s Guyana Cricket Board’s (GCB) U-15 Competition.
Players have gained places in the squad based on their performance in the BCB’s U-15 Inter Zone Competition.
Those selected are: Vettorie Latchman, Dwayne Williams, Rampertab Ramnauth, Antoine Alexander, Darius Joseph, Saffie Shaffiek, Lakeram Sookram, Shreedat Roopnarine, Tomani Caesar, Zainul Ramsammy, Avishkar Persaud, Niquan Samuels, Isia Thorne, Hemchand Raghubir, Rudra Goberdhan, Pavanand Ganesh, Leon Cecil, Tameshwar Mahadeo, Hemendra Goodial, Jonathon Rampersaud, Jeremy Sandia, Vikendra Singh, Mahindra Gopliall, A. Downer, Abdur Munroe, Matthew Pottaya and Latchman Dhanna.
Chairman of Selectors Mr. Leslie Solomon informed that the squad will be encamped shortly as preparations for the Inter-County tournament intensifies. He is confident that the players who gain selection in the final 14 will be the best of the lot and will represent the County well.
“The lads will also benefit from classroom training during their period of encampment and this group comprises mainly newcomers to the Inter County scene. Much work will have to be done to ensure they are brought up to the required level,” Solomon informed.
Solomon is appealing to parents to encourage and guide their offspring’s since he feels the home plays an integral part in their development.
All players are required to report to the Jai Hind Cricket Club Ground, Albion at 16:00 hrs tomorrow for a briefing and commencement of training.
