Kaieteur Sports – Four teams are now turning their attention to the semifinal stage of the ‘Stars Among Stars’ Futsal Championship, moving one step closer to the coveted $1.5 million grand prize.
The tournament’s final four were confirmed on Sunday at the National Gymnasium, following an exciting slate of quarterfinal clashes that saw Back Circle Ballers, Gold is Money, Bent Street ‘A’ and Sparta Boss secure semifinal berths.
With a total of $4 million in prize money up for grabs, the remaining contenders are expected to face their toughest tests yet when semifinal action resumes on Friday, May 29.

Back Circle booked their place in the final four with a thrilling 7-5 victory over Herstelling in one of the tournament’s highest-scoring encounters. Despite the defeat, Herstelling produced a spirited performance against one of the country’s premier futsal sides before eventually bowing out.
Gold is Money advanced with a commanding 4-1 win over North East La Penitence in the second quarterfinal matchup. After taking an early lead, Gold is Money controlled the second half and added late strikes to comfortably secure their semifinal position.
Bent Street ‘A’ edged Festival City 5-4 in another closely contested affair. The teams traded goals throughout an intense encounter before Bent Street held on to a slim advantage to progress to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Sparta Boss survived a stern challenge from Bent Street ‘B’ to claim a narrow 6-5 victory in the final quarterfinal. Sparta maintained a slender lead for most of the contest and eventually held off the youthful Bent Street side to seal their place in the next round.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the champions will pocket $1.5 million, while the runners-up, third-place and fourth-place finishers will receive $700,000, $400,000 and $200,000 respectively.
With the quarterfinal stage now completed, the tournament shifts to the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall for the semifinals and final.
Supporters can look forward to a packed programme on Friday, May 29, beginning with exhibition clashes featuring Back Road Park against East Coast Park and South Park taking on Mocha Park.
The evening will also feature an Influencers’ match before attention turns to the highly anticipated semifinals.
In semifinal one, Gold is Money will battle Back Circle Ballers for a place in the championship final, with the encounter tentatively scheduled for 23:00 hrs.
Semifinal two will see Bent Street ‘A’ face Sparta Boss in what is expected to be another entertaining showdown. Both teams boast impressive futsal pedigrees and will be eager to secure the remaining spot in the final.
The tournament continues to receive support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport through the ‘One Guyana’ initiative.
