Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) wrapped up four days of exciting action featuring a number of top players who competed in the Diamond Independence Cup Squash Tournament hosted at the Guyana National Racquet Centre.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport as part of the sports programme for the nation’s Diamond Independence Diamond Jubilee celebrations, all the big names placed their hands up at the senior and junior levels as they wanted to be part of this once in a lifetime celebratory tournament.
Cash prizes and trophies were up for grabs and were distributed by Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle on Sunday evening after the final ball rebounded off the wall bringing an end to a satisfying tournament for all and sundry.

Among the top performers, veteran star Nicolette Fernandes won the Women’s Elite Champion title as national players, Ashley Khalil ended second and Mary Fung-A-Fat – 3rd spot.
The men’s leg was dominated by Alex Arjoon who emerged winner of the Men’s Elite Championship. The talented Jason-Ray Khalil copped 2nd Place with third place going to Ashante Smith.
