Three Miles Secondary suffer mixed fortunes in latest Cheddi and Janet Jagan NSC/MCYS Windball Cricket in Region 7

Kaieteur Sports – The latest action in the competition which is being coordinated by Senior Officer Allister Munroe, was played at Dagg Point Ground on the outskirts of Bartica.
Bartica Secondary School with Region 7 Sports Organiser Mark Ambrose, NSC MCYS Deon Carew, ASTP Clavern Monchior, Teachers T. Cornelius & Candia Paul.
At the end of the rain interrupted day, defending champions, Three Miles Secondary suffered mixed fortunes in the two finals that were played.
In the Janet Jagan girl’s final:- Defending champions Three Miles Secondary School chose to bat first and scored 73-3 with Latifa Konet 39 and Vaninah Daniels 20. Bowling for Bartica Secondary, Shenally Russell took 2 wickets.
Bartica Secondary School in reply reached 74-0 with Althlia Simmons hitting 37 and Rosanna Patterson 28 to secure victory.
In the Cheddi Jagan boys final:- Bartica Secondary batted first and made 78-3 with Dale Moses 31 (5×6).

Defending champions Three Miles Secondary in their turn in the middle reached 82-4 off 4.4 overs to claim the title.
Before the start of the competition the players and teachers were addressed by – Candia Paul, teacher of Bartica Secondary and a former player who represented Guyana at the West Indies Women’s Windball tournament.
Paul stated that she was a part of AL Sport & Tour Promotions Windball development programme and spoke bout comradery benefits of the live-in weekend camps held at the Guyana Teachers Union (GTU) hall in Georgetown which include students from various schools including Berbice.
She stated that she learnt a lot from those days and is happy to be giving back to those now participating.
Region 7 Sports Organizer, Mark Ambrose, expressed thanks to the MCYS/ NSC for organizing the tournament.
Monroe had words of appreciation for officials Deon Carew of the NSC, and Julius David & Clavern Monchior of the AL Sport & Tour Promotion.
He also had words of appreciation for the Department of Education Region 7, the schools, the parents who came out and all in Bartica who worked to ensure the activity was a success.
