A fine century from Mohamed Rafeek handed Superiors Woods a comprehensive 106-run
victory over Savage Masters when the Wolf’s Challenge Softball Cup continued yesterday.
Rafeek stroked 106 not out as Superior Woods rattled up 234-1 off their allocation of 20 overs, taking first strike at Gandhi Youth Organisation ground.
Surujlall Kumar got 60 while Baiju Persaud made 48 not out. Savage were sent packing for 128 in 16 overs in reply. B. Ramsaywak scored 29; Rudolph Johnson grabbed 6-38.
At Malteenoes SC, Regal Masters beat Mike’s Wellman by nine runs. Batting first Regal managed 147-9 with Mahase Chunilall scoring 41 and Samuel Kingston 23; Sheldon Adams claimed 4-24 and Greg De Franca 2-22. Wellman responded with 138-7 in 20 overs. Lloyd Rooplall scored 44, Nandram Samlall 38 and Latchman Kallicharran 21 not out. Mahendra Hardyal snared 3-27 and Fazleem Mohamed 2-26.
Fisherman XI overcame Floodlight by six wickets. Floodlight got to 143-6, taking first knock. Anil Beharry made 40 not out, Patrick Khan 29 and Richard Persaud 20. Pooran Singh picked up 2-21. Fisherman replied with 144-4 in 17 overs. Ishwar Persaud and S. Rampersaud made 49 each, while Tanko Persaud made 31 and Robin Persaud 26.
Parika Defenders defeated Albion Masters by four wickets. Albion batted first and scored 143-8. Randolph Latcha cracked 49 and Jaga Bojh 47; Beesham Singh captured 4-22 and Devanand Kannan 2-23. Parika Defenders made 144-6 in 17.5 overs in reply. Ucil Armstrong struck 34 not out, Mahendra Balgobin 29 and Ramesh Rambharose 19. R. Mangalie had 2-25.
In the female category, Mike’s Wellwoman beat Trophy Stall Angels by 17 runs. Wellwoman posted 197-2 in 15 overs. Zola Telford hit 89, while Latoya Smith made 69 and Joan Vansertima 28; Alicia Allen and Amanda Roberts had one each. Trophy Stall responded with 180-6. Akilah Castello smashed 61 while Roxanne Dominique scored 50 and Heema Singh got 36; Smith picked up three wickets and Telford two.
4R Lioness beat Blue Divas by four wickets. Batting first, Blue Divas got to 140-7 with Mickelly Taitt getting 39 and Sherry Ann Fraser 30; Kaysia Schultz and Shyon Goodluck had two wickets each.
4R Lioness replied with 141-6 in 12.3 overs. Abigale Scott blasted 71 and Akaze Thompson 20; Sangeeta Shaw had two wickets.
