RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, CMC – Bahamian Shaunae Miller won a dramatic women’s
400 metres final at the Rio Olympics here last night.
The 22-year-old clocked a personal-best 49.44 seconds to beat World champion American Allyson Felix who clocked a season-best 49.51.
Jamaican Shericka Jackson claimed bronze in 49.85.
Miller went out fast and pushed to the end as Felix closed the gap. Only a desperate dive after an initial stumble cause Miller to edge over the line ahead of Felix to crown a dramatic conclusion to the women’s 400m final.
