Kaieteur Sports – Action in the National Sports Commission Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport 11th edition of the Janet & Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket champions trophy Region 2 leg, organized by Sport Officer A. Munroe and played at the Queenstown Community Centre ground continued with several matches.
The highlight of the round, defending champion Abrams Zuil Secondary girls failed to advance to this year’s region 2 final after been knocked out by debutant Charity Secondary School.
Region 2 Sports Organiser Debra Daniels address the participants at the start, thanking the organiser and the MCYS/NSC for once again allowing her to coordinate this competition, and reminded them to embrace and honour the contributions to the country made by the former two presidents to Guyana.
Defending champion Abrams Zuil Secondary failed to advance to the final after been knocked out by debutant Charity Secondary School.
Charity after been invited to take first strike made 72-1, thanks to Jaraya Rodrigues hitting an unbeaten 49 and Gianna Douglas 10.
Abrams Zuil turn in the middle saw them being restricted to 22-5.
8th of May Secondary School batted first and scored 28-3.
Johanna Cecilia Secondary replied with 24-3.
Cotton Feld Secondary 55-0, Christine Rodrigues 26, Shagueena Moses 11.
8th of May Secondary replied with 33-4.
Anna Regina Multilateral School after been sent it to bat made 88-0, Tyrere Stephney 55 (6s x4), Jhonattan Barry 21 were the top batters.
8th of May Secondary in reply were restricted to a record lowest total of 9 for 6.
Defending national champions Abrams Zuil Secondary sent into bat, scored 67 – 4, Eshwar Tillactk 24, Markanthony Obemuller 15, bowling for Cotton Field Secondary Sudesh Jacobs 2-20. They reply with 27-3.
Anna Regina Multilateral School made 42-1, Barry Johatton scored 38.
Debutant Charity Secondary hit 24-6 with Safarz Park 10. Bowling for ARMS Zachariah Maholal and Barry Johatton each pick up two wickets a piece.
Abrams Zuil Secondary 33-2.
Johanna Cecelia Secondary 28-8, Ravi Fredicks, Shavesh Bridgmochan, Otish Roberts each grabbed 2 wickets each.
Meanwhile, Schools from Georgetown will do battle on Sunday April 19 at the National Gymnasium Day/Night matches coordinated by Al Sport & Tour Promotions Officials.
Monday April 20, the Action moves to Region 4 ECD at the Enterprise Community Centre Ground from 10am.
