Arguably four of the most decorated teams locally Pele, Slingerz, Alpha United and Fruta Conquerors will battle for two available places in the final when the semi finals of the Guyana Football Federation / Stag Elite League

Finale are contested tonight at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora.
Pele will take on Slingerz in the first game which starts at 19:00hrs while Alpha United will battle Fruta Conquerors in the second from 21:00hrs. Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at GFF office, Vurlon Mills of Slingerz FC expressed confidence in winning the title. He stated that his fellow players have worked hard to reach this stage and are eager to go, adding that team spirit will be of utmost importance if they are to progress.
“It’s an honour to play in the final four once again, these teams are very strong so we will not be taking our opponent for granted, we will try our best to give our fans something to cheer about,” he added.
Slingerz also won the GENESIS of tehsame competition last year and are aiming for the coveted double which would see them gaining automatic qualification to the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship.
Fruta Conquerors is one of the teams that are capable of creating an upset and their Captain Trevon Lythcott pointed out that his players have worked hard to get to this stage. He feels they have what it takes to come out on top stating that it is a privilege to play in the competition.
Alpha United Captain Daniel Wilson indicated that his colleagues are well prepared for this stage of the tournament while Konata Manning of Pele FC added that the competition is good for Guyana’s football whilst crediting the GFF for its establishment. He expects the matches to be competitive and urged the fans to come out and support.
President of the GFF Wayne Forde expressed gratitude to Ansa McAl for their input into the league which he said provides a platform for players to play football on a consistent basis.
Forde further said the GFF will chase new ideas to improve its level and feels the event will create a brand for the nation internationally which will attract foreign investment and provide an avenue for players to further develop.
Stag Beer Brand Manager Linden Henry, congratulated the teams for making it to this stage noting that the standard of the event has improved. He lauded the GFF for a well organised tournament so far.
GFF has announced that transportation will be at square of revolution at 16:00hrs at a cost of $600 to and from the venue.
