A fine century by thirteen-year old Silvan Williams handed New Opportunity Corps U15 team a comfortable 100-run victory over the open Female Select XI when the Clive Gobin Memorial 20-over tournament commenced recently at Zorg on the Essequibo Coast.
NOC U15 batted first and made 205-7 off their allocation of 20 overs. Williams stroked 105 which contained two fours and eight sixes, Shaquel Cummings made 30 (2×4,2×6), while Treon Sealy and Leoly Forrester got 21 each. Davina Goberdhan grabbed 4-36 and Natasha Boson 4-24. The open female team were bowled out for 106 in reply. Boson scored 23 (3×4); Lesley Forrester snared 3-13 and Mark Williams 2-9.
North U15 overcame South U15 by nine wickets. South took first and managed 76 all out in 15.3 overs. Ken George cracked 23; Lance Roberts and Sheldon Charles picked up three wickets each. North U15 replied with 77-1 in 16 overs. Charles slammed 35 not out and Roberts and unbeaten 21.
The competition concludes on August 30.
