Scotia Bank once again bonded with the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) to host their 4th Annual Cricket Academy for young Berbice Cricketers. Yesterday morning at Ansa McAl Group of Companies they donated $175,000.
The Cricket Academy will be held in July for two weeks at Port Mourant Cricket Ground with five coaches working along with the students.
Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC), Hilbert Foster who spoke on behalf of BCB, said that over the last three years the Academy was able to assist the BCB in grooming their cricketers and as a result is grateful for the sponsorship of Scotia Bank.
Scotia Bank will also be funding two educational programmes (Essay Competition for Secondary School Children and a Spelling Bee Competition for Primary School Children) for the BCB.
The winning schools would be receiving $25,000 each.

e programmes organised by BCB on their Pro-education Campaign will be to promote the importance of education for sportsmen and women.
Foster ended by assuring that BCB is focused on the development of Berbice Cricket.
Nelson said that Scotia Bank is pleased with the result from the Annual Cricket Academy which they (Scotia Bank) sponsored over the past three years.
She further added that the sponsorship is being presented under the Scotia Bank Bright Future Programme which is Scotia Bank’s cooperate giving programme to target children in the area of sports, education, arts and culture.
