Semifinal action of the Scotia Bank/Pepsi School Football Academy championship concluded at the Carifesta Sports Complex ground Wednesday afternoon and East Ruimveldt defeated Tucville Secondary School 2-1 to set up a highly anticipated thriller against North Georgetown Secondary in the final scheduled for this Saturday at the GCC Ground commencing at 14:00hrs.
In what was dubbed the most exciting female game played to date, both teams battled to a nil all conclusion at the end of regulation time. The teams then battled in 10 gripping minutes of extra time but neither managed to break the stalemate resulting in penalty kicks. The high level of suspense was maintained after the teams had delivered 4 kicks each and the score on 2-1 in favour of East Ruimveldt. Representing Tucville Secondary, Tasnica Lovell was selected to take the kick that would have equalized the situation. Exuding confidence, Lovell struck but the kick was wayward and went wide of the goal sending the East Ruimveldt players and their supporters into throes of ecstasy. The finals are expected to produce similar fireworks.
