Neal and Massy Guyana Group yesterday handed over a cheque valued at $100,000 to the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) for its ‘Judgement Day’ five-fight card, which is fixed for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall tomorrow.
The presentation took place during a simple ceremony at the Group’s Head Office at Ruimveldt. Upon accepting the cheque from the Group’s Human Resources Officer, Fay Bispham, President of GBBC, Peter Abdool, stated that the support Neal and Massy is giving is valuable and essential in helping to develop the sport in Guyana.
“I would like to thank Neal and Massy for its generous support and look forward to developing the partnership over the coming years. It is not the first time the Group has supported local boxing, but this time they’re doing it in a bigger way.”
Speaking on behalf of her organisation, Fay Bispham, noted that Neal and Massy is delighted to be associated with the event. She pointed out that Guyana has a rich history in boxing which dates back from the middle of the last century.
“Guyana has produced boxers like Cliff Anderson, Patrick Forde, Terence Ali, Moti ‘Kid’ Singh among others, who have laid the foundation and paved the way for this current crop. We are excited about Saturday night’s event and we extend best wishes to those who will be featured on the boxing card.”
