Sponsors pour in for Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club Emancipation Horserace Meet

– Plenty entries, over $10M at stake

Kaieteur Sports – With less than two weeks to go before the much-anticipated Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Emancipation Horse race meet, a hoard of sponsors are already on board for the event.

The event is slated for Sunday 2nd August at the Club’s race track at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.

A total of seven races are on the day’s card with a sumptuous $10M in cash, trophies and other incentives for the winners and other outstanding performers.

Among the sponsors on board so far are the Trophy Stall, Mike Pharmacy, Colin Elcock Delmur Company and Racing Stables, Big G Lumber Yard and Stables, Patsan’s Trading Company, Survival Supermarket, Rohan Auto Sales, Armco Construction, Davenant Sawh Mechanical Work Shop, Joe Jagmohan Company and oversees based Karamchand Balkarran. A number of others are set to confirm their association with the event during the week.

So far over 70 horses have entered for what is expected to be an exciting day of racing.

The feature event is open to all 3-year-old and over horses in Guyana. The winner will race away with a healthy $1M and a trophy over the one-mile distance.

The other races on the day’s programme are the – The event for E class non winners which is also open to F and G class horses with a first prize of $500,000 and a trophy.

There is a winner’s take of $400,000 and a trophy for the top horse in the H and lower race.

Guyana Bred three-year-old maiden horses and three years old Guyana Bred maiden’s winner of one will also be racing for a winner’s take of $400,000 and a trophy.

There are two races for Guyana-Bred two-year-old maiden horses. The winners will run away with $350,000 each and trophies each.

The winner of the L Class Open event will take home $350,000 and a trophy.

Reports are that most of the races already have full entries.

As usual the Trophy Stall will be presenting the outstanding participants including the top jockeys, trainers, stables with trophies and other incentives etc. compliments of Managing Director Ramesh Sunich.

The prestigious KMTC is one of the premiere horseracing venues in the country and has a good reputation of organizing horseracing events.

The day’s event will be conducted using the rules of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club. Race time is 12:30 hrs. (Samuel Whyte)
