– Berbice crowned Zone 8 champs
Tuesday’s round of action in the Beharry U19 Secondary School’s T20 tournament saw a number of top individual performances as teams look to the final stretch.
Zone 8 Champions Berbice Educational Institute.
Zone 6 East Coast Semi-Finals:
Golden Grove Secondary beat Lancaster by 42 runs at QC Ground.
In a low-scoring battle East Coast Zone 6 leg saw Lancaster suffering a loss after failing to make the 76-10 which they restricted their opponents to after Gavin Adams (4-11) and Simon Dass (3-29) ripped apart the attack.
Alvin Ramotar stood tall with a patient 40 for Golden Grove, who kept Lancaster to 34-8 by the end of their overs, after he returned to bag figures of 3-3 with help from Parmesh Roopnarine (2-4) and Nathan Seebalak (2-14).
Zone 5 North Georgetown:
Queen’s College beat Christ Church by 21 runs at QC Ground.
Playing at home, QC eased to a comfortable win after making 103-7 from 20 overs. Sachin James hit 36 (2×4 3×6) while Nathan Gurrachan (20) and Nathaniel Sukhnandan (19) chipped in.
The in-form pair of Darrius Haynes (3-13) and Hemraj Bhowan (2-11) continued to grab wickets for Christ Church, but failed to stop them from crashing to 82-5 after their overs expired.
Lower-order contributions from Saurav Persaud (21) and Trevor Burnett (16) headlined a tough batting expo by their team.
Man of the Match Berbice Educational Institute Luke Amsterdam 60 runs from 55 balls.
Zone 8 East Berbice:
Berbice Educational Institute beat Lower Corentyne by 50 runs.
Runs continued from the form man Luke Amsterdam who spanked 60* off 55 at Albion, as Ryan McPherson (25) and Lemeul Dejonge (23) played their roles to help BEI post 148-4 off 20 overs.
Best Bowler Berbice Educational Institute Gilbert Griffith 4-24.
Another amazing spell from Youth players Gilbert Griffith (4-24) and Brandon Grimmond (2-20) gave BEI a clean win after keeping Lower Corentyne to 98-10, despite a fighting 37 from Nicholas Madramootoo.
