Linden Summer Super Cup Football continues with double header tonight at Bayrock National Stadium
– Capital FC, Eagles United, PDey Stars and Botafago get winning starts
(Kaieteur News) – The Summer Super Cup football championship got underway last weekend with Capital FC gaining a walkover, while Eagles United, PDey Stars and Botafago recorded on field victories at the new Bayrock National Stadium in the town of Linden.
Saturday’s opening fixture was not played since Capital FC’s opponents Coomacka FC did not take the field, but the second game was one that energized the fans, with Eagles United providing a fine display through goals by Antwoine Gil and Omar Brewley, as they downed Milerock 2-0.
On Sunday PDey Stars were winners by the slimmest of margins when they won 1-0 over Hi Stars, but the second game was a shootout with Botafago out gunning Blueberry Hill 5-3.

This evening (Wednesday) the action continues with another group stage double header which features from 6.30pm game one as Topp XX FC face Coomacka FC, and the other from 9.00pm brings together Silver Shattas and Eagles United.
According to Divine Entertainment’s Coordinator, Devin Sears, they have partnered with the Capital Football Club to stage this inaugural football tournament, and its: “More than just a football tournament, the Summer Super Cup is designed to unite communities, promote youth development, encourage sports tourism, and provide clubs and players with a professional platform to showcase their abilities. The competition also aims to strengthen football within Region #10 while creating opportunities for players to advance to higher levels of the sport.”
Sears noted the support of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), stating fourteen clubs affiliated to the governing body in the region have been listed to contest the tournament, where $4M in prize money is at stake.
These clubs are Amelia’s Ward Panthers FC, Botofago FC, Capital FC, Eagles United FC, Aroaima FC, Net Rockers FC, Kwakwani FC, Winners Connection FC, Hi-Stars FC, Blueberry Hill FC, Coomaka FC, Silver Shattas FC, Topp XX FC and Milerock FC.
Fans attending the Summer Super Cup 2026 can expect an electrifying atmosphere throughout the tournament, with every match night featuring halftime entertainment designed to keep spectators engaged both on and off the field. The excitement will culminate in a spectacular Championship Celebration Show, where football fans and patrons will be treated to performances by international recording artistes, creating a fitting finale for what is expected to become one of Guyana’s premier football festivals, according to Devin Sears.
