Kaieteur Sports – Skeldon Line Path and New Amsterdam Secondary Schools were recipients of nine red cricket balls each from this noble joint initiative between Anil Beharry of Guyana and Kishan Das of the USA. The balls will be used by the schools to prepare for the national school cricket competition sponsored by the Beharry Group of Company. The Beharry Group must be commended for this massive investment that will surely unearth new talents across the country.
Imran Ally, Headmaster of SLPS and former Deputy Regional Executive Officer, Region 6, received the balls on behalf of the schools and was very thankful for the support. We wish the schools great success in the tournament. Over the years, many Guyanese cricketers benefitted from this project, some of whom went on to represent West Indies at different levels.
This project will continue to improve the lives of youths in every community. We are pleased to be part of the development of young cricketers in Guyana. Our aim is to keep them off the streets and get them actively involved in sports, cricket in particular.
Cricket related items, used or new, are distributed free of cost to young and promising cricketers in Guyana. Skills, discipline and education are important characteristics of the recipients. Talent spotting is being done across the country and club leaders also assist to identify same. Progressive and well managed cricket clubs with a youth programme, will also benefit.
We thank all who have supported including the media for the role they have played so far in promoting this venture. Distribution will continue.
Anyone interested in contributing can contact Anil Beharry on 623 6875 or Kishan Das on 1 718 664 0896.
