Kaieteur Sports – Master Z top horse Dataman is the front runner to win the Guyana horse of the year award for the 2025 season, with Regal Man of Js Racing Stables and Slingerz’s Ritorna Vincentori being the other nominees.
The Guyana horseracing awards ceremony will be held on Sunday July 5 during the CARICOM horserace meet at Bush Lot United, West Coast Berbice.
Js Racing Stables is primed to win the stables of the year award while Yovin Kissonchand is in line to win his maiden jockey of the year award. Ronaldo Lima is set to wear the champion trainer crown.
Three horses were nominated for the champion two-year-old Guyana bred. All the Time, Monica Time and Summer time (formerly Nice Time) are the nominees.
John Bull, Regal Man and Stat are the nominated horses for the imported sprinter of the year 2025.
The horses nominated for three-year-old Guyana bred are I Will have Another, Ruff Time and Spank Me. Mulan, Storm Bird and Sydney are the three-year-old West Indian bred horses nominated.
Meanwhile, the four-year-old and over Guyana bred nominees are Country Rock, River Dance II and Three D Movie. Amicable Kate, Emotional Damage and Soca Harmony are the horses nominated in the four year-old and over West Indian bred.
Amicable Kate was again nominated but this time for the Upset win of the year. The other horses nominated for the upset win of the year are Spank Me and Stormy Victory.
The race of the year 2025 saw three horses being nominated. Ritorna Vincentori, Secret Silence and Mapa Do Brasil are the horses nominated.
The year 2025 saw the passing of promising jockey Kishawn Pereira and in honoring his name, the future jockey award will be the “Kishawn Pereira Future Star Jockey” award. The nominated jockeys are Arvin Dhanraj, Quinton Kellman and Amit Parmanan.
The presentations will be made from race four of the CARICOM Cup programme on Sunday.
