All round Reddi leads RHT Pepsi to easy victory over Cotton Tree
St. Francis Community Developers 40th Anniversary Match…
Kaieteur Sports – The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club on Wednesday last, hosted a Day of Sports in observation of the 40th anniversary of its founder, the St. Francis Community Developers at the Area ‘H’ Ground. The day activities included a special 20/20 cricket match between the Rose Hall Town Pepsi Under19 team and their Cotton Tree Cricket Club counterpart, a football match, athletics events and numerous fun events like sack race, tug of war, eating race, Musical chairs and lime and spoon among others.

The visiting Cotton Tree team won the toss in brilliant sunlight and elected to bat first. They were never allowed to score freely as the home team bowling attack kept them in check. They were bowled out for a meagre 56 runs in 17 overs with only R. Sarjoo 14, R. Dhanessar 12 and C. Baldeo 11 reaching double figures. National junior players Raffel McKenzie 2 for 13, Jayden Campbelle 2 for 1, and Leon Reddy 3 for 4 were the main destroyers. They received support from Berbice Under 19 player Asif Marimuthoo who took two wickets for no run in his only over.
Needing to score 57 runs from 20 overs, the home team reached 60 for 3 from twelve overs with Matthew Pottaya 14, Leon Reddy 16 not out and Nicholas Cameron 10 not out been the principal scorers. Christopher Baldeo 1 for 3 and Simeon Soffor 2 for 10 were Cotton Tree main bowlers in the losing cause.
Leon Reddi was declared man of the match for his brilliant allround performance and received a trophy. The Rose Hall Town Pepsi team carried home the ST. Francis 40th Anniversary Trophy while the visitor received the runner up trophy.
The St. Francis Community Developers formerly the ST. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Youth Club is currently observing its 40th anniversary. The Group, which has won three Commonwealth Youth Service Awards, founded the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club in 1990. The RHTYSC has since gone on to win 134 Cricket Tournaments at all levels while producing 133 players for Berbice, 76 for Guyana and 13 international players.
