Kaieteur Sports – Guyana Amazon Warriors notched up a 3 wicket win last night as action in the 2026 Guyana Super League T20 tournament underway at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

Playing under lights, middle-order Hammad Azam led the Unicorns batting with a dashing knock of 61 not out off 45 with 2 fours and four sixes, which essentially propelled his team to 156-6 batting first by the end of 20 overs.

Opener, Kiwi Tim Robinson looked dangerous as he nailed a brisk 38 (4×6 2×3) while Oliver Peak scored the Unicorn’s next best score with 30 (1×4 1×6).

A mixed bowling approach turned out good for the Warriors, with pacers Dwaine Pretorius (2-36) and homeboy () Romario Shepherd (1-16) the situation down.

Veteran Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi (2-33) and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie (1-22) did well in the slower bowling department.

Prior to reaching their revised final score of 131-7, the Warriors had a few hiccups after losing the dangerous Quentin Sampson (0) before Mohammad Haris (30) fell after adding 63 for the 2nd wicket alongside the other opener in Rahmanullah Gurbaz (31).

Warriors would take their score to 66-2 in the eight over when rain stopped play and needed 65 from 53 upon resumption of play before eventually finishing on a high note with Rovman Powell seeing his team home with an unbeaten 29; as they avoided any threats from the Unicorn pair of Ghulam Mudassar (2-27) and Hassan Khan (2-25).
