Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ returns to Georgetown on April 8.

Kaieteur Sports – The Georgetown zone of the popular Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ streetball competition is set to resume on April 8 at the Cultural Centre Tarmac, as organisers move to conclude the 2025 tournament following an extended pause to competition.

Organisers have confirmed that, the competition will restart in a direct elimination format, featuring 32 teams for the Georgetown leg. Interested teams are encouraged to register early by contacting 694-2915 to secure participation in the limited slots available.

Defending champions Laing Avenue are slated to return as they aim to successfully defend their title when action resumes. The Georgetown zone will serve to complete the unfinished portion of last year’s tournament before attention shifts to the national championships.

While details regarding the prize structure are yet to be finalised, the resumption marks the return of one of Guyana’s premier street football competitions, widely recognised for its high-energy, knockout-style format.

Following the completion of the Georgetown zone and the national championships, organisers are expected to proceed with the official launch of the 2026 season.
