Kaieteur Sports – Sunshine and steady breezes set the stage for a dramatic second day of action in the 12th Annual Massy Distribution Boys’ Under-18 Secondary Schools Football Tournament, but nothing could have prepared spectators for the sheer scale of domination that unfolded at the Queen’s College ground.
Headline honours belonged to Chase’s Academic Foundation, whose ruthless 22–0 dismantling of The Bishop’s High sent an early and emphatic warning to the rest of the field. Last year’s runners-up needed little time to assert control, running riot in a one-sided affair that now stands as the most lopsided result of the tournament’s opening round.

Lodge’s Kemonthy Jones lets one sail …converting his free-kick attempt during their 3-1 win over New Central High.
Nyron Barrow and Germaine Garrett each recorded hat-tricks, while Dimani Hardy, Shaquan David, Mark Glasgow, Jadan Tasher, Fabio Kowlessar and Jadan Christian all contributed braces in a relentless attacking display. Kemron Pellew, Aaron Vasconcelos and Darius Chester also found the scoresheet to complete the rout.
Earlier in the day, Belladrum Secondary made an equally strong statement, brushing aside New Campbellville Secondary 5–0. Deadrian McKenzie led the charge with the tournament’s first hat-trick, setting the tone for a commanding performance from the East Coast side. Kahien Hercules and Roland Daniels added further goals to seal a comfortable victory.

Santa Rosa Secondary keeping a clean sheet against St Stanislaus College in their opening encounter.
Anna Regina Secondary edged a thrilling contest against President’s College, prevailing 3–2 in a hard-fought encounter. Goals from Darius Pearson, Nickeem Braithwaite and Jerry Stephen proved decisive, handing President’s College—traditionally known for defensive resilience—an early setback.
West Demerara Secondary also secured a narrow 3–2 win over Brickdam Secondary in one of the day’s more competitive fixtures. After an early opener from Brickdam’s Cherbub Trim, Jaquan Smith equalised before later netting again to spark a comeback. Malachi Charles then struck the decisive goal to complete the turnaround.
In another exciting contest, Three Mile Secondary struck early to defeat Carmel Secondary 2–1, with Joshua James and Durel Washington scoring within the opening six minutes. Terry Bruce pulled one back for Carmel, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Annandale Secondary opened their 2026 campaign with a composed 2–0 victory over Mackenzie High, courtesy of first-half goals from Lephan Henry and Malachi Jarvis. Despite efforts to respond, Mackenzie High were unable to recover from the early blows.
After that, New Amsterdam Secondary edged Good Hope Secondary 3–2 in another closely contested match, with Jaffarrie Albert, Eon Williams and Enqi Leacock providing the goals. Kareem Critchlow and Emmanuel Wharton responded for Good Hope, but their efforts fell just short.
Lodge Secondary marked their return to the championship with a solid 3–1 win over New Central High. Dane Vancooten netted a first-half double, while Kemonthy Jones opened the scoring with a well-taken free kick.
Meanwhile in the final fixture, Santa Rosa Secondary secured a 3–0 victory against St. Stanislaus College. Darren Williams struck twice in the opening stages to put his side firmly in control, before Jamal Abrahams added a late third to seal the result.
After two days of action, the tournament is already taking shape, with several teams laying down clear markers as the competition intensifies in the coming days.
The tournament is sponsored by Massy Distribution, with support from Demerara Mutual Group and the Ministry of Education.
