Kaieteur Sports – The National Sports Commission, Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport 11th edition of the Janet & Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket champions trophy competition continued in Region 4, East Bank Demerara zone. Organized by Sport Officer A. Munroe and played at the National Gymnasium, the defending champions suffered mixed fortunes in the respective girls and boys categories.
In the Janet Jagan Girls segment:- Defending national Windball cricket champions Yarrowkabra Secondary made a successful start after been invited to bat score 137-0, with Lucana Wiliams 58 and Makayla Mendonza 61. In reply Covent Garden Secondary were restricted to 107-0, Toleca Yarde 33 and Sueann Gregory 31.
In the Cheddi Jagan boys department:- Defending Region 4 champions Covent Garden Secondary found themselves on the losing end as they elected to bat and made 100-2, with Orwin Jordan unbeaten on 46, “6s x 7” (on his birthday), Terry Deonarine 22 and Jamele Shultz 19.
Yarrowkabra Secondary replied with 104-0, Leon James 47 and Nicholi Morris 45 hit off the runs.
In other action; Covent Garden Secondary 72-2, J. Shultz 46, Devin Ram 18.
Winner Diamond Secondary 76-5, Nazeem Persaud 18, Vikash Roopnarine & Paul McIntosh 13 runs each.
Diamond Secondary 106-2, N. Narine 38, V. Roopnarine 26, Joydan Emmanuel 16.
Yarrowkabra Secondary overhauled the total making 111-3, Leon James 57 and N. Morris 16.
