Kaieteur Sports – A scorching hundred from former Guyana all-rounder Chris Barnwell piloted the GPF Officers to the final of the 2026 Commissioner of Police T20 Cup, after dismantling Region 6 by 93 runs during the Super Stages played this past week at the Police Ground.
Barnwell, a key player in the success of the then Guyana Jaguars franchise, slammed a brutal 139 off a mere 36 deliveries, lighting up the Eve Leary Ground with a whopping 18 sixes and just 3 fours, arguably one of the better T20 knocks locally across any significant senior format or competition.
Contributions came from Ravindradat Budhram (26) and Joshua Budhram (20) who scored two fours each as Rocky Hutson somehow escaped the carnage and returned 2-14 bowling for Region 6.
Following the Barnwell blitz, the GPF Officers racked up a majestic 233-5 after 20 overs. Region 6 crumbled under the pressure only managing 140-7 by the time their 20 overs ended.
Another former Guyana batting star, left-hander Assad Fudadin, carried Region 6 with a robust knock of 70 with seven fours and a pair of maximums, finding help from Zomini Archibald (21).
GPF Officers bowled with discipline and cohesiveness, as Stephen Harris (2-7) and Michael Newland (2-25) controlled the innings along with help from Barnwell, Ivor Trotz Troy who returned a wicket apiece.
GPF Officers will now look to regroup and maintain their form as they prepare to battle Headquarters in the final which will be announced soon.
