Kaieteur Sports – Some young cricketers from Region 6 were a part of a fruitful cricket coaching session held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Yakasari Ground, facilitated by the Ministry of Culture Youth & Sports.
The session focused on developing fundamental cricket skills while promoting teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship among participants.
The activity forms part of the President’s Youth Award, Republic of Guyana (PYARG) Programme which is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport through its Youth Department.
As such, the programme is designed to empower young people by providing opportunities for personal development, leadership, skills training and active community engagement.
Coaching sessions are set to reflect the Ministry’s continued commitment to expanding access to sport at the community level.
Through sustained investments in the rehabilitation and development of community grounds and recreational facilities across all regions of Guyana, the Ministry is creating safe and accessible spaces where young people can train, compete and develop their talents.
These investments, coupled with structured sporting programmes, are helping to strengthen grassroots sports development while encouraging healthier, more active communities. (MCYS)
