Semifinal spot for Zion Hickerson at U12 USTA Tournament

Kaieteur Sports – Talented Guyanese youngster, Zion Hickerson, enjoyed a deep run at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) L7 August Championships U12 Boys department at Flushing, NY. He topped his group with 3 wins, beating the number 3 seed, William Lai.

In the semifinal, he played a nail-biting match against the big hitting Siyan Ni. The match ended in favor 5-3 to Siyan. Zion fell behind 0-2, soon picking up 3 games in a row. Siyan levelled 3-3 and eventually topped Zion.

Zion Hickerson advanced to the semis in the U12 department of the USTA Tournament.

The USTA tournament serves as a warmup for him as he sets his sights on the Allin by Tsonga by Ten-Pro. This tournament is being hosted at Jo Wilfred Songa’s Tennis Academy in Nice, France from 10 to 16 August. Zion is currently training with his childhood coach Shelly Daly at Prospect Park, NY.
