Kaieteur Sports – Regional Four Day preparations continued yesterday at Everest, with the Matthew Nandu XI putting themselves in the driver’s seat following a composed batting exhibition as they venture into what could be an important third day of cricket.
Nandu XI had a brilliant Day two with the bat, as their top order looked solid as they sought to surpass the 180 made by the Imlach XI on the first day, which was built on a half-century from Ushardeva Balgobin.

Opener Navindra Persaud was run out for 25 off 86 balls with just two fours to his credit, before West Indies U19 vice-captain Johnathan Van Lange ran him out.
After the 55-run opening stand was broken, Captain Matthew Nandu (27) had his bat edge broken by fast-bowler Isai Thorne and was caught by gloveman Tommani Ceasar.
The skipper faced some 103 deliveries and found the ropes on 3 occasions before falling to some good pace bowling.
After the openers departed, Kemol Savory and Zeynul Ramsammy joined forces to help carry the team’s score well past the 100 mark during the final session of play.
Both Savory and Ramsammy were busy as they took their respective scores into the 20’s as they sought to carry their bats to stumps.
Ramsammy nailed four fours as he took the lead, carrying his score to 30* when officials declared stumps on day 2.
Savory was also rock-solid ending on 25* with three fours under his belt, with the pair looking to build come today on their current, even 50-run partnership.
Only the former Windies Youth paver Thorne (1-28), managed to make inroads for the Imlach XI with other operators possibly relying on a third day pitch to make something happen when action resumes today. (Clifton Ross)
