Kaieteur Sports – Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, the organisers of The Kennard Memorial Turf Club Phagwah Horserace meet have been forced to reschedule the event by one week to Sunday 15th March.
All arrangements are still in place and preparations are almost complete for the mouthwatering event which is slated for the Club’s track at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
There are still Seven races on the day’s programme with a whopping $9M in cash, trophies and other incentives at stake.
The feature event known as the Metro Mile for the Metro stakes is sponsored by Metro Stationary and Office Supplies to the tune of over $4M. The winner will race away with an enticing $2M and the Phagwah Cup over 9 furlongs.
The other events are the F class race over 7 furlongs.
There is the H class race also over 7 furlongs for the top horses.
Three years old Guyana bred maiden horses compete over 6 furlongs.
Horses classified J class gallops over 7 Furlongs.
The K class and lower event will see the animals competing over 6 Furlongs.
The final event for L class maiden horses will also see the competitors battling over 6 furlongs.
Outstanding performances including the Champion Jockey and Runner up Jockeys, trainer and stables etc., will all receive accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall.
The event will be held using the rules of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club.
