Kaieteur Sports – Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) completed an easy 8-wicket win over East Bank Cricket Association (EBCA) when action in the opening round of this year’s Under-19 Inter-Association 50-over tournament bowled off yesterday.
In a match which was flooded with talent, the low-scoring stint of the both innings failed to capture the aura of what should have been a more competitive battle at the Police Sports Club Ground.

All-rounder Emmanuel Lewis collects his match award from GCB executive/Competitions chairman Shaun Massiah.
Batting first, EBCA were mowed down for 38 runs with 10 of those coming in the form of Extras, an inevitable fate after being reduced to 31-7 at one point of their innings, which lasted approximately 20 minutes.
Opener Dilshan Latchman (10) was the top-scorer by the end of the innings which saw almost 30 odd overs remaining in the bank.
Georgetown had a phenomenal bowling outing led by skipper, spinner Dave Mohabir (3-9), Man-of-the-match Emmanuel Lewis snared 3-5, with help from Shane Prince (2-6) and Stephon Seymour (2-15).
GCA wasted little time in getting to their final score of 39-2 thanks to effortless contributions from Danvir Seegobin (11), opener Kishawn Silas (9*), West Indies U19 all-rounder Shamar Apple (6*) who struck the only maximum for his team and Khush Seegobin (5).
EBCA had little hope in defending such a low score against a stacked GCA unit, despite Rupie Rajaram bagging 2-22 from 4 overs.
Action continues on Friday February 20 with EBCA playing East Coast at Eve Leary Ground, while West Demerara battle Upper Demerara at MMZ Ground region 3, with both games starting from 9:30h.
