Firearm, ammo found at Kuru Kururu during home cleanup

Kaieteur News– A firearm and ammunition were discovered inside the home of a deceased elderly resident at Kuru Kururu on Friday.

The discovery was made at approximately 11:00hrs when a 39-year-old craftsman, who was cleaning out the home of his 90-year-old relative who had passed away, came across a brown cardboard box tucked away in the house.

Upon opening the box, the man found a silver-coloured revolver along with five matching rounds of ammunition.

According to police, the discovery was immediately reported to the authorities.

“The matter was reported to the Kuru Kururu Police Outpost, and ranks subsequently took possession of the firearm and ammunition,” police said.

The weapon and ammunition have since been lodged as investigators work to determine their origin and history, including whether the firearm was licensed to the deceased relative.

“The firearm and five rounds of ammunition were lodged pending examination,” police added.

Investigators are continuing their probe into the matter, and no arrests have been made at this time.
