Kaieteur Sports – The thunderous echo of squeaking sneakers and roaring goals filled the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall yesterday as the 3rd Annual President’s Futsal Championship served up another day of breathless schoolboy action. Annandale, Dolphin, Lodge, and Hope Secondary all seized momentum with crucial victories on a dramatic Day 3.
The day opened with grit as Annandale Secondary staged a come-from-behind 2-1 win over a battling Brickdam side. Jakeel Jackson’s 7th-minute “blinder” for Brickdam was quickly answered by Ronika Morris’s crafty counter-strike. Annandale sealed the deal late, with Josh Thomas burying a close-range decider in the 24th minute to snatch victory.

Previous action in the Kashif and Shanghai inaugural Schoolboy’s Futsal Championship as 20 schools vie for supermacy.
The fireworks truly exploded in a goal-fest between Dolphin Secondary and Vreed-en-Hoop. Dolphin’s ace, Seon Grant, was simply unstoppable, netting a spectacular hat-trick, his second of the tournament in a 5-3 thriller. After Christheson Davidnot opened the scoring, Grant turned the heat up with a double in the 9th minute. He capped his masterclass with a solo run in the 22nd, punishing Vreed-en-Hoop despite a brave brace from Riquan Sam.
Defensive dominance was the order of the day for Lodge Secondary, who dismantled North Ruimveldt 4-0. Dane Vancooten (with a brace) and Emanuel Phillips set the ruthless tone early, before Tyrese Jordan completed the commanding performance, leaving North Ruimveldt with a second defeat.
The day’s schoolboy finale saw Hope Secondary edge past St. Stanislaus College 2-1, powered by a decisive double from Lebron Semple, cancelling out Clint Bynoe’s early strike for Saints.
The Kashif & Shanghai-organised championship shifted last evening to the Men’s Senior segment, with six matches on the card. Full coverage of those clashes will follow in a subsequent edition.
For now, the spotlight remains on the schoolboys, where Grant’s scoring prowess and Annandale’s resilient comeback have set a thrilling standard as the tournament heats up.
